  • Term Time Holiday

    Thu 14 Feb 2019

The Head Teacher has received several requests recently to authorise holiday taken in term time. Please note that head teachers would be breaking the law if they authorised term time absence for the purpose of a holiday and so these requests have to be refused. Leave of

absence in term time can only be authorised in exceptional circumstances. Head teachers are expected to make a judgement as to whether circumstances described by parents are exceptional. The school refers any unauthorised absence of five days (tens school sessions) or more to the local authority who are likely to issue a fine. Details may be found in our Attendance Policy (https://www.yattendon.org/policies/)

  • Please Encourage Your Child to Borrow Books

    Fri 08 Feb 2019

We are very lucky to have such a well-stocked library here at Yattendon and children are encouraged to borrow books during their library time each week. Children may borrow two books at a time for two weeks. Please encourage your children to take advantage of this opportunity. Year 3 enjoyed visiting Horley Library. Please look out for special events at Horley Library over half term.

We were invited to attend the East Surrey sports hall athletics event at Lingfield College and we took a team of Year 5 children (stepping up for Year 6 due to a date clash). They competed in a range of adapted athletic events. Each child participated in four events and everyone's scores were combined, which resulted in a fantastic first place in the boys’ competition! The girls also competed well and showed tremendous

determination and the ‘Y factor’! Overall, we finished in a respectful fourth place. Not bad for a team of Year 5 children competing against Year 6 from seven other schools.
