  • Good Luck Mr Murtagh

    Fri 30 Jun 2017

We would like to wish Mr Murtagh (Year 4 class teacher) the very best of luck for his charity boxing match tomorrow. We understand his opponent is not a slight man, and dearly hope that Mr Murtagh returns to the school in one piece on Monday. Joking aside, he is raising money for a very worthwhile cause, Cancer Research, and we are all very proud of him.

  • Change to timing of Sports Day tomorrow

    Mon 26 Jun 2017

    Dear Parents and Carers,

Change to timing of Sports Day tomorrow

Once again we are sadly faced with a forecast of rain for our sports day. As of this morning, BBC are stating that there is an 80% chance of heavy rain from midday until 2pm tomorrow. Whilst the grounds are currently dry, and reasonably safe should there be light rain, the prospect of heavy rain would make the conditions unsuitable.

As there is currently no forecast for rain until midday, we have decided to move the afternoon’s activities to the morning. We realise that this will be disappointing for those of you who have planned to take the afternoon off, but we hope that some of you might have understanding employers who will allow you to have the morning off rather than the afternoon.

I hope you understand that, given that this is the only chance we have to hold our annual sports day this year, the alternative choice was to cancel sports day altogether.

If you are able to make it in the morning, we will be starting at approximately 9:10am. Please park away from the school (or preferably walk to school) to prevent Oakwood Road and Lumley Road becoming too congested. We expect the morning’s races to end by around 11:45am (weather permitting).

We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Fingers crossed that the forecast doesn’t change to rain in the morning!

    Best regards

    Guy Perkins

    15th June 2017

The children are continuing to have a fabulous time on their residential trip to Osmington Bay. The raft building yesterday was a particular highlight. The staff are very impressed with their confidence and sense of team spirit.

A selection of photos have been uploaded to the "Gallery" section of the school website. http://www.yattendon.org/gallery/. Due to the number of photographs this may take a few minutes to load.

    12th June 2017

The children have arrived safely in Osmington Bay where the sun is shining.   They are all very excited and busy unpacking and getting ready for their first activity.

We will update you with more news from Osmington Bay later in the week.

    Kind regards,

    School Office Team

  • UN ambassador visits Yattendon

    Fri 09 Jun 2017

We were very excited to welcome the UN ambassador for art to our school, Ibiyinka (Ibi) Aloa. He managed to squeeze in a visit prior to his return to New York. He gave an assembly sharing some of his paintings with the children. The main purpose of his visit, however, was to lend support to a Guinness record-breaking attempt to create a huge decorated ‘bag for life’ with contributions from children around the world. The ‘bag for life’ project is the brainchild of the Lightup Foundation, a UK-based charity whose purpose is to inspire young people around the world to make a positive difference to their communities.

The School Council showed Ibi some of the wonderful art work that had been produced during art week and the progress that the school had made with decorating two sections of the record-breaking bag. The completed bag will be displayed in the United Nations building. In other words, our children’s art work will be going to New York!

To find out more about the work of the Lightup Foundation, visit: http://www.lightupfoundation.org/. I’d like to say a huge thank you to Ola (a Langshott parent) from the Lightup Foundation for giving us this opportunity.
