  • Online Safety Drama Production

    Fri 31 Mar 2017

On Wednesday, Year 4 children from Yattendon, Manorfield and Meath Green Juniors were treated to a fantastic drama production all about online safety. This production was loosely based on the Wizard of Oz and featured a character called Dotty who had made some bad choices when using the internet and was transported into an online world. She met various characters along her journey before escaping back to reality, much more equipped to make responsible choices about online safety. The key message that the children learned was that we are all responsible for the choices that we make when using the internet and that bullying online is as bad as bullying someone in the playground. Also, if there is something that makes them feel uncomfortable when using the internet then they should discuss this with an adult who will help them. As a follow-up to this, we have arranged a Parents E-Safety workshop on 16th May from 2.00pm - 3.00pm. This will be run by Stella James from Gooseberry Planet and will focus on practical strategies for parents to be able to support their children, such as how to set privacy settings on various apps such as Musical.ly and Youtube. Please put this date in your diary.

  • Sporting events that have taken place this week

    Fri 03 Mar 2017

On Tuesday children from Year 6 took part in a cross-county competition organised by

Yattendon staff at Oakwood School. Like all great cross-country races, the weather was

dreadful! Despite the cold and driving rain, the children gritted their teeth and did themselves proud. There were excellent performances from Lauren (6R) and Brooke (5C) who won their races, while Lea (4D), Matthew (4D), Kai (5S) and Charlotte (6W) finished as runners-up and Devon (6S) came 3rd in her race.

On Wednesday we took two Year 5 and 6 teams to compete in a hockey tournament at

Reigate Grammar School. The team work on show was outstanding and there were brilliant performances throughout from both teams.
