Congratulations Alfie 6J. For an outstanding effort in Tag Rugby club and a huge amount of progress from start to finish. Alfie listened brilliantly, took on board the coaching points from the teachers and he can successfully pass the ball with confidence.

  • Mental Health in Schools

    Fri 19 Jan 2018

I wrote to you towards the end of last year about the importance of an open discussion on the subject of mental health. As we have ‘healthy school’ status we have traditionally placed great importance on physical exercise and healthy eating. Nationally, mental health now has a much higher profile and schools are now encouraged to raise awareness of this aspect of health too. To this end, we are hosting the ‘RAISE Team’ in school next week. They are a group of healthcare professionals who will be talking to the children in Year 5 and 6 about healthy lifestyles from the point of view of mental health, dispelling some of the myths and stigmas that exist. We hope that the children find it interesting and useful. This is a sensitive subject, so if you have any questions or concerns about these sessions, please make sure you let your class teacher know or contact Stella Coulson via the school’s email address (info@yattendon.surrey.sch.uk)

  • WOW (Walk Once a Week)

    Fri 12 Jan 2018

This campaign has got off to a good start. Children are making an effort to use greener methods to come to school and this will hopefully reduce congestion in surrounding roads. Their method of transport is being recorded each morning by their school council representative. Please try and support your child/children if you can, ensuring they know a safe route to school if they are walking, cycling or scooting without you. At half term we will be giving out the first set of badges to all those children who managed to use one of the above methods to get to school (or walked from ten minutes away) at least once a week. Of course we recognise that this is not always possible due to parents’ work commitments, but hope that as many children as possible can join the campaign. There will be a little competition between classes too, no doubt!
