We received a leaflet on Tuesday from Surrey Highways to let us know that Oakwood Road will be closed on Wednesday 1st February and Thursday 2nd February. The times of closure given are 9:00am to 3:00pm for each day. We have contacted Surrey Highways to ask if the road may be re-opened at 2:45pm so that school traffic is not impacted as much, but have not yet had a response. We feel the safest bet is for you to have an alternative plan to collect your child on both these dates if you usually use Oakwood Road at the end of the school day. We will update you as soon as we have more information.

This week Yattendon held a special exhibition of moon items loaned from NASA.  This was probably a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to examine rare specimens, including moon, soil and rock samples, meteorites and other exotic rocks, collected during the Apollo missions.  Please see the Friday Flyer 475 for more photographs.

As was mentioned in last week’s Friday Flyer our Home School Link Worker - Karen Burgess - is able to assist and signpost families to support agencies for those that are finding the cost of living a struggle. I thought it may be of interest to share with you the support available for those who are struggling financially.  Referrals to Horley Food Bank.  Assistance with obtaining clothing (including uniform) for children (Stripey Stork).  Referrals to the Horley Lions - Warm Over Winter Campaign, for those that are struggling financially with their energy bills.  Assistance for those who are struggling financially to replace goods within the family home (subject to the item and cost). Unfortunately there was significant congestion in Oakwood Road yesterday as a neighbour did not have sufficient room to enter their driveway. Please be mindful of where you park and avoid drop-kerbs either side of driveways, so that residents have room to manoeuvre. Please do not stop or wait on double yellow lines or the zig-zag lines. They are there to help children and parents cross safely and to keep traffic flowing. Thank you.
