  • Fundraising for Ukrainian Refugees - sale on Monday 28th after school

    Fri 25 Mar 2022

We continue to support fundraising for Ukrainian refugees and have a sale on   Monday after school in the playground. Mrs de Vine will be selling knitted badges (see right) and two of our children in Year 6, Romi and Olivia, will be selling a mix of books, soft toys and jigsaws. Please send a little money into school with your child (up to £2.00 should be sufficient) if you would to give them a chance to buy  something. Money should be in a sealed envelope with their name on it.  Alternatively, you could give them this after school.  Of course, parents and carers are welcome to browse and make purchases too. Please be aware that children who come home unaccompanied may be five to ten minutes later than usual if they are coming to the sale on their way home.

  • Year 3 Football Tournament

    Fri 18 Mar 2022

Congratulations to our Year 3 football team for participating in their first ever tournament at Yattendon School. The whole team worked well   together scoring a goal from a free kick and making some excellent saves. On this occasion, despite a fantastic effort, we were unfortunately defeated by Langshott who won the tournament. It was a great  experience for all the players and it was brilliant to see all our players showing great sporting behaviours by congratulating the other teams who played. We hope to see all these children representing the school again in the future.

  • Ukraine Conflict

    Fri 04 Mar 2022

We have started to receive donations from the list I sent out on Wednesday. Thank you very much. Another copy of the items needed by refugees can be found on page 2. Today I spoke to the children about the Ukraine conflict and the   older children (Years 5 and 6) were shown the Newsround clip that can be found here:   https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/60554258    It is clear that the children are talking about Ukraine and some have some more personal experience of its affects. For instance, some have relatives in Poland taking in refugees.  In assembly, children were shown a map of Europe to locate Ukraine and I briefly explained what a conflict was and our hopes for a speedy resolution. The main focus of the assembly was how we could help the huge numbers of refugees arriving in the countries neighbouring Ukraine. Please note that the last date for accepting donations (for the current   Yattendon appeal) is Friday 11th March.

The items that are needed are as follows:

    Nappies (in sealed manufacturer’s packaging)

Baby milk and food (in date and sealed)
