  • WEATHER UPDATE - 28th February 2018

    Wed 28 Feb 2018

We are planning to open as usual tomorrow morning (Thursday 1st March), though an update will be posted by 7:30am. Please send your children in at the usual time if you can, although registers will be closed at 10am to allow flexibility. Once again, please make sure children are wearing boots and carry their school shoes in a separate bag. The current forecast is for snow throughout Thursday in the Horley area. Please keep an eye on this website for updates. If we feel it would be safer to close the school early tomorrow, we will post this by 12noon at the latest. Thank you for your continued support.

Tuesday 27th February. School is open as usual. We will keep an eye on the weather and post an update later on today (12 noon). TAKE CARE in Oakwood Road, Lumley Road, school entrance and pathways as they are extremely slippery. Please make sure children wear grippy shoes (boots ideal with school shoes to change into).
  • School Council Trip to the Houses of Parliament

    Fri 23 Feb 2018

The School Council enjoyed a fabulous trip to the Houses of Parliament on Wednesday. They visited the Robing Room (where the Queen puts on the Imperial State Crown and her ceremonial robes before making her way to the House of Lords) and the House of Lords (where the Lords help to make and shape British laws). We were unable to visit the House of Commons as it was the Prime Minister's Question Time! We attended a really interesting workshop where we learnt more about our government and how laws are created and passed. All School Council members behaved impeccably! They were interested and enthusiastic and asked lots of thoughtful questions. They were a real credit to Yattendon School. Well done School Councillors!

  • Science Day at Salfords Primary School

    Fri 02 Feb 2018

On Monday, Mrs Sims took five Year 4 and 5 children to a fabulous science day at Salfords Primary School. The day was run by Andrew Smith, a qualified teacher, arachnologist, writer, field collector (he spends a month abroad every year collecting tropical insects and spiders!) and natural history film director. Andrew brought with him numerous small animals (amphibians, reptiles, spiders and snakes) for the children to learn about. They discovered more about habitats, where animals originate from, life-cycles, food chains, evolution due to climate/environmental changes and so much more! The day was a huge amount of fun as well as being very educational and worthwhile. All of the children who attended were a real credit to Yattendon. They behaved brilliantly and learnt loads! Mrs Sims was very proud of them all!
