  • Taking mental health seriously

    Fri 28 Jun 2019

Yattendon has invested a great deal in supporting children’s mental health, including the provision of ‘Learning Space’ and two trained emotional literacy support assistants. If your child finds it difficult to make friends or manage their emotions, please contact us and discuss your concerns with Mrs Labbett or Miss Sims. This can be an anxious time for children who are thinking about next year. In assembly this week we talked about strategies children can use to tackle and manage worries, including the need to recognise ‘ANTS’ (automatic negative thoughts) in order to challenge and transform these thoughts. If you feel your child is displaying signs of anxiety, you are welcome to ask us about the support we offer.

  • Yr6 Residential IOW

    Mon 17 Jun 2019
The children have arrived safely in the Isle of Wight having enjoyed spending time at the Spinnaker in Portsmouth.   They are now making themselves at home in their hotel before participating in this evening activities.  Please check on the Year 6 page for further updates throughout the week.
  • Parking!

    Fri 14 Jun 2019

I have been approached by local residents once again asking me to remind parents and carers not to park on yellow lines or on private roads and driveways. I appreciate that the poor weather makes parking more challenging, but please continue to park with due respect to local residents and mindful of the safety of all our children. The double yellow lines are there to maintain flow of traffic in the road, without which drivers become frustrated and start behaving in ways that become dangerous. Thank you for your support.

  • Poetry workshop at Salfords School

    Fri 07 Jun 2019

On Thursday, 7 children from Year 3 and 4 visited Salfords School for an able writers workshop. The children worked with a poet called Coral Rumble to create and perform their own simile and story poems. We were really impressed by the quality of their poems and their confidence in performing them to others.
