The Head Teacher has received several requests recently to authorise holiday taken in term time. Please note that head teachers would be breaking the law if they authorised term time absence for the purpose of a holiday and so these requests have to be refused. Leave of

absence in term time can only be authorised in exceptional circumstances. Head teachers are expected to make a judgement as to whether circumstances described by parents are exceptional. The school refers any unauthorised absence of five days (tens school sessions) or more to the local authority who are likely to issue a fine.
