  • Summer Uniform

    Thu 29 Mar 2018

If we get a summer (!), children are welcome to wear summer uniform after Easter. Of course, they may prefer to stick to winter uniform for a little while yet! This is the last summer season that polo shirts may be worn as these are being phased out. You may prefer, therefore, to purchase short-sleeved shirts (similar to the winter shirts) if you want to get two years of wear from them.

  • Easter Egg Hunt - Thursday 29th March

    Mon 26 Mar 2018

This is just a reminder that our annual Easter Egg Hunt is on Thursday 29th March at 2pm. Tickets cost £2.50 and are now on sale at https://www.pta-events.co.uk/foy. (Tickets are available online only)

Please make sure you print the tickets to make it as quick as possible to get the children 'checked-in' when they arrive. When purchasing tickets please let us know:

    • if your child is unable to have a chocolate egg due to an allergy
    • if you can volunteer to help on the day

Siblings are more than welcome to come and join in the fun too!

Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you on 29th March.

    Kind regards

    The FoY

  • New Deputy Head Teacher

    Fri 23 Mar 2018

We are delighted to tell you that Ruth Bienkowski has been appointed as our new, permanent deputy head teacher. We had a very high level of interest in the deputy post so the competition was very tough. However, after a gruelling day of assessment tasks and interview, Ruth was the clear favourite with the interview panel. Ruth is currently on loan to Yattendon in the role of ‘acting deputy’, and will take up the permanent post in September. Please introduce yourself to Ruth if you haven’t already had a chance.

  • Weather Update: 19th March 07:15

    Mon 19 Mar 2018
School open as usual. Some pavements slippery in Oakwood Road and Lumley Road. Take care on the school site as there is some ice in places.
  • Weather update 18th March 18:50

    Sun 18 Mar 2018

Light snow is forecast for the Horley area overnight. We do not anticipate that this will cause issues. However, in case the snow is heavier than expected, please check for updates here tomorrow morning (by 7:30am). We will endeavour let you know here in the unlikely event that the school needs to close due to conditions on the school site or difficulties faced by staff getting to school. If we trust all parents and carers travel to school at their own discretion in snowy conditions.

For more information on general school policy concerning severe weather, please see 'letters and news archive' section for current parents. Click here

  • Decorated Egg Competition & Easter Egg Hunt

    Fri 16 Mar 2018

You should have received information about this yesterday. Children wishing to take part need to bring their decorated egg/s into school (and £1.00 to enter) during the last week of term. Judging will take place during the Easter egg hunt on the last day of term.

  • New School Minibus

    Fri 09 Mar 2018

Our new minibus arrived on Thursday. It’s slightly smaller size will mean that a wider range of staff will be able to drive children to fixtures which will hopefully help parents out with transport.

  • Raising money for the Friends of Yattendon

    Fri 02 Mar 2018

Please donate you green Waitrose tokens in the Yattendon School collection point in the main Horley store this month and help us raise further money for our FoY.

  • WEATHER UPDATE - 2nd March 2018 - 7:00am

    Fri 02 Mar 2018

School opening at normal time today (8:45am). Children may wear own (warm) clothes. OSCAHs is closing at the earlier time of 5pm. End of the school day will be the normal time (3:15pm).

  • WEATHER UPDATE - 1st March 2018 - 1:45pm

    Thu 01 Mar 2018

Due to an improved forecast, we are not planning to close tomorrow (Friday 2nd March). The school will be open at the usual time assuming there is no significant snowfall overnight. Children are expected to arrive from 8:45am, although registers will be closed at 10am giving flexibility if you need it. Children may wear their own (warm clothes) tomorrow given the temperatures and the battering taken by uniforms!

Please check at 7:30am tomorrow in case things have changed overnight.

Thank you once again for your patience. It has been very challenging to make the right decision for everyone. We appreciate some of you need to know as early as possible and others would prefer a later decision that avoids unnecessary closure.
