  • Sport News - Two Victories!

    Fri 29 Mar 2019

Last Friday was a Year 4 football tournament involving all the Horley Schools. For Yattendon B Team this was their first experience of competition and they improved with every match. Yattendon A team were undefeated throughout the afternoon and won a place in the final against Burstow. They then went on to win a thrilling final 1 - 0. All the children played their socks off!

The Yattendon girls' football team played their first friendly of 2019 against Meath Green, winning an amazing 9-0! It was a slow start but the team pushed on and by half-time we were winning 2-0. The combined efforts of all of the team pushed them onto a scoring

 frenzy in the second half with a range of goal-scorers. It was a solid performance from everybody involved and we enjoyed great support from parents and pupils alike.

Please look out for a letter from the Parent and Carer Council next week. We held our third meeting on Wednesday to discuss the parent questionnaire and ideas parents put forward. A summary of results from the questionnaire will be included with this letter. We were delighted by how positive your responses were.

  • Residential and Non-Residential Week in Year 4

    Fri 15 Mar 2019

Year 4 have had a fabulous week getting out and about both here and at High Ashurst. The reports I have received from Yattendon staff at High Ashurst have been very positive about the behaviour and attitude of all the Year 4 children who attended - we are very proud of them for being such excellent ambassadors for our school. The children have taken part in lots of outdoor and adventurous activities including high ropes; orienteering; indoor team-building activities; a night hike and inflatable archery - they have also loved the delicious food provided and will all be expecting cooked breakfasts every day from now on! (Photos in Friday Flyer next week.)

Here at school, the Year 4s have had a very varied week including building habitats for woodlice; making bug hotels; baking flapjacks (which looked and smelt delicious!) and lots of extra Art and PE sessions. The children have loved mixing with people from the other classes and it has been lovely to see them working so well together to create some amazing new animals during art.

  • Launch of ‘Forest School’

    Fri 08 Mar 2019

The widely praised and accredited programme ‘Forest School’ got underway at Yattendon on Wednesday this week, ably led by Mrs Pearson-Young. This was the first time Yattendon had provided this opportunity, adding to our long list of rich learning experiences. Children thoroughly enjoyed the first activities on offer including den building. One child summed up the fun they had had by saying ‘I enjoyed feeling like a young child. I don’t get to do things like that outside’.

We are always looking for volunteers and already have a few parents who come into school and do an incredibly important job supporting our school community. If you feel you would like to volunteer, please get in touch with Sally Moss via the main school email: info@yattendon.surrey.sch.uk
