On Wednesday, Senior Leaders and School Governors spent the morning with the school’s attached Local Authority Partner. The aim of the morning was to evaluate the extent to which we have embraced the requirements of the New Primary Maths Curriculum – a School Development Plan priority for this year. There are many changes and perhaps the most significant is the expectation of how maths must now be taught in greater depth for greater understanding.  The teaching and learning must now aim to develop the following three strands: fluency, mathematical reasoning and problem solving. We were delighted with the feedback from the visit which confirmed that our teaching staff were making excellent progress with the new requirements especially the teaching of the ‘reasoning’ strand which encourages children to explain and justify their answers.
