SATs Results 2016

Comparison between the performance of Yattendon pupils and all pupils nationally in the 2016 SATs

2016 saw the introduction of the new Key Stage 2 testing arrangements. These were implemented following the introduction of the new national curriculum in 2014 with significantly higher standards expected of primary school aged pupils. The pupils who took the tests in May 2016 had only spent two years being taught the revised curriculum with these higher standards and the tests themselves were very challenging. We are proud of how well our pupils equipped themselves for these tests and are pleased, that in most areas, their attainment was comparable to the national performance.

Progress:

Progress is calculated against the national performance. Therefore a positive (+) score indicates that Yattendon pupils have performed better than the national average while a negative (-) score indicates that Yattendon pupils have performed below the national average for 2016.

Overall, the percentage of children achieving the expected levels of progress in Reading, Writing and Maths combined was 9% below the national performance. This is significantly better than in 2015 where Yattendon pupils were 24% below the national performance.

In the 2016 SATs, pupils’ test results were translated into a scaled score to ensure consistency of results across the country. A child achieving a scaled score of 100 is said to be working at the expected standard for the end of year 6.
